LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2021

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and
the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC) held the 10th LNG Producer-Consumer Conference
on Tuesday October 5, 2021.

At this conference, we could deepen our discussion of the expected role of LNG in the next decade against
the backdrop of increased global decarbonization efforts, taking into account LNG’s drastically changing environment
as well as its significant contribution to energy security and sustainable growth in Japan and the World.
For this 10th anniversary conference, we are extremely pleased to have posted on our site video messages
from ministers of more than 25 countries and more than 70 corporate leaders and international organizations.
The number of registrations for the conference has amounted to more than 2,000 from more than 55 countries.

I’m very pleased to extend many congratulations to the 10th annual LNG Producer-Consumer Conference. Recent events continue to demonstrate the importance and timeliness of this conference. One of the themes of my new book, “The New Map”, is that cooperation and collaboration and mutual understanding is the foundation of the global LNG business, which each year becomes more and more important. This conference embodies that foundation. LNG peak will be sometime after 2050, and remains a very important growth business. Our new IHS market study shows the role of gas in net zero, drawing some important conclusions for LNG. Many congratulations to METI for its leadership in convening this conference, which plays such an important role in the essential communication among producers and consumers through the market cycles.
